On January 22nd, 2019, the Leonia Board of Education celebrated the passing of its anti-idling resolution. The resolution was the result of conversations between Board members, the Green Team, the district’s Director of Buildings and Grounds and Superintendent.

The resolution passed with nine of ten votes and one abstention. In the resolution, the Leonia School District showcased its dedication to the enhancement of environmental protection by committing to maintain buses, distributing educational materials to the school community on reducing wasteful vehicle idling, and has implemented training for all district school bus drivers on the importance of reducing bus idling.

The school district has posted the resolution on its website and has announced it at Board meetings. Furthermore, all drivers have been trained in reducing bus idling. Above all, Leonia is committed to reducing its emissions footprint and setting a clear example for the community.
